The Moxie Recovery program includes individual and group therapy for people who have experienced or are currently in toxic, and/or hidden abusive aka narcissistic abusive relationships. Hidden abuse causes such insidious damage to its victims, it is imperative a recovery program is intricately designed to address the complex dynamics and trauma it causes which is known as Complex PTSD. In order to achieve a more successful outcome, it is highly recommended that clients participate in both individual and group therapy. If someone is already seeing another therapist for individual therapy, they are more than welcome to join the Moxie Group.
This will still require an initial appointment for documentation and reviewing group information. People are often hesitant, if not resistant, to joining group therapy. There is reticence to share their personal story and being vulnerable in the presence of others. This is the very core of what makes group so powerful; the “Me Too” support. “Me Too” cultivates validation, relief, compassion, shared experiences, realizing some have it better and some have it worse. Also a freedom to share without feeling like they are “dumping” on someone. Participating in both individual and group therapy will launch one’s healing.
